Located near Nutrioso, Arizona in the beautiful White Mountains of north-eastern Arizona, this land is surrounded by the Apache-Sitgeaves National Forest. There are over two hundred miles of streams in the area and over a dozen lakes. The rugged beauty ranges from the stark Petrified Forest to trails winding through deep woods. It is said that early settlers killed a beaver and a bear, so they named the site "nutria" for "beaver" and "oso" for "bear", and thus "Nutrioso".

Nutrioso is in Apache County at latitude 33.953N, longitude -109.208W. The community was founded as a ranching and logging town, and there are many traces of old businesses and settlement scattered about, along with crafts and businesses still thriving.
